2023 Update
Images I created for this project (along with some particularly strong feelings that it has led me to address directly in the form of Twitter threads until 2023 and now in the form of posts elsewhere) have grown my social media following as an unexpected side effect.
Despite the presence of two very long gaps in the timeline of this project, people still ask me how I find the motivation to work on my skills, to keep doing my makeup in spite of soul-crushing levels of stress, poverty, and gender dysphoria. The secret is that I don’t — I never feel the motivation to do anything. I still have to wake up, get dressed, and face each day head-on anyway. That’s what this whole series is about!
